Get Involved

The Festival has been a community event from the outset. This year, to ensure the continuity of the festival, we are paying key coordinators responsible for the year round work; but on the day everyone - speakers, performers and coordinators give their time voluntarily.

Each year we need Stewards to keep the festival running smoothly and to help visitors feel welcomed and orientated. Stewardship of the festival has it's own rewards, it's a great way to work with other like minded people and be a part of what goes on behind the scenes. It’s our volunteers sense of community and generosity which makes the festival so special.

There are many different tasks which need doing over the course of the Festival: helping to set up on Friday and take down on Sunday evening, helping to staff the door and the Festival information desk, directing people to workshop spaces, looking out for health and safety issues, ensuring speakers have everything they need and much more. We try to work out a particular role in which you will be happy and which will use your skills. Please let us know if you have professional Health and Safety experience and/or an up to date First Aid certificate.

We ask you to commit to a 4 hour shift and if you would like to do more we will be very grateful – it often takes a few hours before you really get into a role and are able to get satisfaction from it. In return the Festival can refund up to £10 for Travel expenses and you receive free entry for the rest of the weekend (worth £12) You’ll need to arrive in plenty of time before your shift, and check in at the admission desk in the entrance area. To offer your services or find out more about stewarding call us 0870 7344 888 or email info@festivaloflife.net

Thank you for your generosity.
