What is Raw Food?

Coming out of our culture, we need to grow and develop a new culture. We need to set free a new culture that naturally creates health and sustainability – at all levels – guided by the wisdom and innate intelligence of nature. That wisdom and intelligence lie within us, and throughout the world of which we are a part. In fact, of course, there is no separation between self-world – the process that determines health or illness, also determine sustainability or lack of it is exactly the same .

The western culture's consumer lifestyle – as a whole – is naturally creating unprecedented levels of sickness and disease – physical, mental and spiritual. This is a inevitable result of the way we live - the standard western diet and lifestyle. At the same time it is creating unprecedented environmental destruction, the advancing toxification of the Earth's ecosystems – of which we are a part – and a psychological and spiritual malaise … BUT it doesn't have to be like this … if we actively change our culture, to a culture of health and sustainability.

When human consciousness works with (not against) nature's wisdom and innate intelligence we can create health naturally – that is nature's general desire and purpose. Nature naturally creates diversity and stability, beauty and abundance, health and sustainability … you can see, feel, understand, experience this in and through your mind and body. All animals are naturally vibrantly healthy if they eat the foods of nature that suit them. Eating more raw foods, and eating mainly raw foods, is about working with nature's innate wisdom and intelligence; it is an important step in creating a new culture of health and sustainability. This is perhaps the most easy and direct (and enjoyable) choice of action through which our diet and lifestyle can naturally create health – at all levels – for people and planet … which includes you of course. It is not the ‘one' answer – it is not the only thing we need for a new culture to emerge, but it is one piece that makes up the heart of that new jigsaw puzzle - a puzzle which many people are already piecing together, bit by bit.

We can talk of the critical role of food enzymes (which are destroyed in cooking), of how vitamins, minerals and enzymes must be abundant and all present together in our diet (raw organic fruits and vegetables are the very best sources for these nutrients, and far cheaper, more effective and more natural than supplements), of the importance of an 80% alkaline diet to maintain an alkaline body (most raw foods are alkaline; most cooked foods are acid) - we can talk of many reasons why raw foods make sense and feel good . A few paragraphs may not tell you why this is a sane and loving way to live, but experience can – through listening, learning, reading and having a go . And the Festival of Life is part of the experience, working with others to bring into existence the new culture of health and sustainability ... ‘Be the change you want to see in the world'.
